The Now: October 18, 2023

While I have been able to get back to my usual (mostly) admin Fridays, what I really need is an entire day on my work calendar free from meetings and desk shifts. There are a lot of loose ends I want to tie up, strategic planning I want to get down on paper, and piles of "stuff" to go through. All that would be so much easier to roll through in a single day of work. Maybe I just need to block out a day on my calendar... 

Here's what I've been working on:

1. Research Assignment Design: We are making progress in the messiness that is group writing an academic article, it's really starting to take shape but there are still areas we all think are a bit of a disaster. Today, I went head down and started plugging in options for references to use in our lit review and discussion. It wasn't actual writing, but it is at least helping us see the trees in the forest. We'll get there.
2. Conference Presentations: I present at Internet Librarian tomorrow and the Library Marketing and Communications Conference next month. I've been spending a lot of time outlining my content, creating slides, adding notes, and all that jazz. Once LMCC is done, I have a break from conferences for a little while. That will be nice. (Then again, I do all of this to myself.)
3. Kiddo Clean Out: We started swapping out kiddos warm weather clothing for cold weather clothing. I am also going to do a deep weed of her toys in preparations for the holidays. Her room is starting to be a bit overpacked. It's easy to tell she's overwhelmed when her concentrated play sessions start to ebb. Once I do a clean out of all her stuff, she'll have space for her imagination again.
