The Now: May 1, 2024

It's that time of the year where DC has its first 90 degree days but the office buildings have not converted to AC. Thank goodness I had the forethought to keep a fan in my cubicle cabinet. It's kept temperatures tolerable and not nap inducing.

Here's what I've been working on:
  1. Celebrating: For the first time in nearly two years, I am not actively writing something for work. The two pieces I have out right now are in the hands of editors. AND we found yesterday that our peer-reviewed article was approved for publication! Our research team met today and we definitely toasted ourselves. The piece won't publish until April 2025, but we are ecstatic. We've opted to give ourselves a few weeks break before we start writing an article for a faculty-facing audience.
  2. Summer Planning: At some point this summer, our library will be moving into a renovated space. I'm excited - but it does make planning for summer projects difficult. I've been mapping out what NEEDS to get done plus a few things I WANT to work on... all while presuming that my to do list will go up in smoke as soon as relocation activities begin.
  3. Paperwork: We enrolled our kiddo in kindergarten this week and there's always a ton of paperwork to do. I am so grateful that we can do all of this online and not have to cart around a ton of files to her future school.
