The Now: March 27, 2024

Right now, I'm debating making a second mug of coffee. I just finished my usual travel mug and, with the gray weather outside, it feels like a hot beverage sort of day. It's always interesting how the weather influences our cravings. Something about cold and misty gray days makes me feel productive but only if I've got the right beverage beside me.

Here's what I am working on.

1. Article on Content Burnout: A couple weeks ago, a library journal editor reached out to me. He had attended my presentation on content burnout at the Library Marketing and Communications Conference and wondered if I wanted to turn it into an article. I jumped at the chance. I submitted an outline and he gave me the go ahead. I'm now writing my first draft. I write one section at a time in a "brain dump" manner. The first draft is always too long and unwieldy. I just want to get it all out. Once this draft is done, I will go back and heavily red pen my work to tighten and streamline.
2. Research Assignment Design: In exciting news, our research article was recommended for publication - with some edits. The reviewers took no issue with our methods or analysis. The suggested changes mostly ask for clarification, further explanation, and continuity. One reviewer also made a lot of stylistic suggestions. We are opting not to make those changes. My main job this week is to update our draft with the line edits. My colleague is tackling some of the other issues. We think we might be able to finish all the changes early next week. It's exciting to be so close!
3. Taxes: I did them!
