The Now: March 2, 2022

Today, I taught what may be my last library instruction class of the semester. If this is my last class, it ended on a high note. There were only 6 students but they were all engaged and asked good questions.

Here's what else has my attention at the moment:

WORK
  • We are in the home stretch of interviews for our research projects. The interviews themselves are a lot of fun and rather enlightening. The transcription is sole sucking and I will be very happy when we are completely done with it.
  • We are just past the halfway point of our faculty webinar series focusing on the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education. It's going well, but I do wish we had a bit more attendance. Those who do attend seem to be getting a lot out of it.
  • I submitted a proposal to speak at our consortium's annual conference. I want to talk about how we pivoted to asynchronous online learning about library and research skills.
  • Speaking of our consortium, the textbook affordability committee I am an on is now looking at creating an OER authorship program. We are in the research phase and I'm excited about where this could go. I know that our students (and faculty) would benefit greatly if/when we get this off the ground.
  • The first of the month was this week, that meant a lot of admin (reporting, stats, etc.) and a lot of outreach with our newsletter.
  • Sat through Hatch Act training... I have thoughts.

PERSONAL
  • I set up my bullet journal for March. It was also time for a new pen. A fresh felt-tip always feels like a treat.
  • I am looking for a mirror to go over our TV. I measured the possible dimensions and now I am on the lookout for something that is visually interesting without being overwhelming.
  • I took tomorrow and Friday as random annual leave days. I am going to clean everything and try to tackle some outstanding personal tasks I've been putting off for months.
