The Now: June 28, 2023

I've been trying to take a jaunt around campus to refill my work photo stash for nearly two months now. Between extra shifts on the reference desk and bad weather I kept having to push it back on my calendar. I finally got to do it today! The sky was a bit hazy from wildfire smoke but that just meant the sun didn't glare to much. I visited all our outdoor spaces, noodled around the student center, and even snuck a picture of the HVAC work going on in our library space under renovation. I'm so happy I finally got this done. My stash of photos for social media was running quite low. (Now I just need to take a dive into our archival photos...)

Here's what else I've been working on:
  1. Person-Centered Management: The second draft of my chapter is due at the end of July. When it comes to papers, I am usually someone who waits until the week it's due. Not this time! I read through all the editorial and peer-reviewed suggestions and made the easy changes today. Tomorrow, I'll work on more of the content suggestions. My main debate is citations. My chapter was originally selected under the "reflections" category and didn't need citations. Now, there are a few spots that would benefit from a footnote or two. The problem here is two-fold. First, I don't want to add them - my writing is reflective. Second, I am already tight against my word count. Adding citations would prove difficult..
  2. Portfolio Website Updates: I want to overhaul this website. I sat down with the strategic planning document I put together last month and wrangled it into an actual to do list. There are a lot of items on that list but I prioritized them so that I can make progress. I tried to balance out the start with a list of low-hanging fruit and more complex content creation. I need to create some momentum so that this does not stay as a backburner project in my brain.
  3. Digital Life Management: I'm making headway on my work to reduce the number "life management" platforms I use. I just need to move one more Trello board over to Evernote. Also, I'm making some master lists (like cleaning, dishwasher, weeding belongings, etc.) that I can refer to whenever I need them. I'm trying to wrap that up in time for my days off/days alone in July and August when I want to get a lot of stuff done and off my to do list.
