The Now: July 6, 2022

I'm glad I got the bulk of my focus work done this morning. Behind me, our archival collection is currently being unloaded into its temporary space. The work is rather clangy. It's hard to focus on deep things when there is a bang every three seconds. 

Here's what I've been working on.

WORK

• Research Assignment Design: I completed more coding. I think the method of focusing on one umbrella code at a time is working. Then again, I keep getting distracted by codes I think I missed or don't want to forget as I find them. It will be interesting to hear from my colleagues when we meet in a few weeks. I want to know how things are going for them. Qualitative coding is weird and hard.
• Presentations and Publications: I just found out that my library should be able to pay for me to attend the Library Marketing and Communications Conference. The call for proposals just hit my inbox. I'm going to draft something up soon.
• LibGuides: I made edits to our Latinx Studies and Black Studies Libguides based on the comments I received from two faculty members. I also started working on an antiracism guide. That one could get rather unwieldly if I let it.
• Instruction: I have a list of modules and quizzes for our Library 101 course I want to make before the summer is over. I was able to write up and post the module on Primary Sources. Just eight more to go... I highly doubt I will get to them all, but at least I can do some of them.
• Administration: Renamed a few files in OneDrive. I think I need to go on another deleting spree. There's a lot in there I don't think I need to keep.

PERSONAL

• Estate Planning: I'm fairly certain that the last personal account I need to change over is done. Just waiting on confirmation. I added the guardianship outline to my personal task list for the month. 50/50 shot I actually get to this.
• Email Newsletter: I'm done with my current cross-promotions. I think I will go through a directory I have access to a make a list of people to reach out to. I'm 53 people away from the 500 subscriber mark. I would love to hit that before 2023.
• Home Projects: Bought a new lamp. The spot we originally wanted it for didn't look right. We called an audible and used it to replace an IKEA lamp we've had forever. That was a good call. There is so much more light in our living room now. Also, our building's bi-monthly donation pick up is in a week. I ran down some donations. I'm planning on doing another walkthrough  of our home this weekend to get anything else we missed. 
• Hobbies: Wrote out some feminist postcards to send. I will drop them in the mailbox tomorrow.
