The Now: February 21, 2024

One thing I have not gotten to is all the professional email in my personal inbox. I've been so busy with other things that I've just been watching my inbox fill up with list-serv, industry, and vendor emails. I might have time to get to all of them... next week.

Here's what I am working on:

1. Student Appointments: For some reason, students are making lots of appointments with me this semester. This is a great thing! I taught a graduate level education class at the start of the year and many of my appointments come from that class. It's fun working one-on-one with students to share where they should consider looking for information to support their projects. 
2. Hiring Committee: We finished our our initial round of interviews at the end of last week. This week, we're discussing the candidates and next steps. I weirdly like being on hiring committees but it also makes me want to give workshops on crafting a resume and cover letter. The lead candidates always stand out because they do just a few things better than everyone else - namely, write a compelling cover letter that connects their experience with our position AND make me excited to work with them.
   
3. Presentation Prep: I'm presenting three different conference sessions in the next two months. Luckily, they all revolve around the same general idea. That means I can mostly scaffold to the same outline but branch out with material that makes each session difference. I do need to design three different slide decks, but I like doing that.
