The Now: December 6, 2023

It's hard for me to believe that the year ends in three weeks. There are so many things I did not get to. Instead of fretting about that, I'm trying to let those worries go by reasoning that, if said things were truly important, I would have done them. It may be time to do a deep assessment of my to do lists and reconsider what actually needs to get done.

Here's what I have been working on:

1. Research Assignment Design: We want so badly to have a first draft done by the end of the year. We're close, but it's probably not going to happen. We have moved to draft three where we read the entire piece and provided comments. Then, we've been meeting as a group to work through those comments. I think we're about halfway through. The literature review continues to be the place that trips us up the most. Same for the discussion. We want to cite things but we don't want to cite too much. There's a balance to these things.
2. Archives Trip: My stash of photos from our University archives was down to the last few images. I spent a good chunk of time looking through yearbooks, capturing pictures to share, and writing notes for when I make content later. There's a group of yearbooks I have not gotten to so I plan on tackling them next week.
3. Christmas Prep: Every present I need to purchase has been purchased. Huzzah! All the stuff for the kiddo has taken over our closet. We are slowly working our way through the holiday cards. The first batch went out this week and the second batch I should be able to get to soon. We also finalized the holiday party menu. I need to write out the grocery lists so I can bake some of the make ahead items this coming weekend. Still have stocking stuffers and some events tickets to buy...
