The Now: April 6, 2022

I had to update my work computer to the new version of Windows today. I should have waited to set that to run when I left. The update ate an entire hour of my morning. I then had to redo all my settings and figure out why my dual monitor screens were working backwards. I got it all taken care of, but that was the kind of work I was not expecting to do today.

Here's what else has my attention.

WORK

• I reviewed all the transcripts from our research interviews. I was looking to put together my thoughts and the trends I saw. I also spent some time learning about Dedoose, a data analysis tool, to see how we can use it in our work.
• I spent more time than I care to think about putting together the print style program that the University is using for Research Week. While it looks good, I will be the first to admit, it's not the right approach for an online event. 
• I presented at Computers in Libraries last week and I think my session went great. Not sure what the live attendance was overall, but there was a ton of engagement in the Q&A and in the networking space afterwards. I've also been approached by my University to do a similar session internally. 
• Sent out the staff newsletter for April. It was a slower month which always means finding content is harder. I might need to start finding new features to include on months like this. There can always be something to learn or share.
• I made a lot of progress on my project to get a faculty research index off the ground. I finished the draft submission form and shared it with the committee I'm chairing. I also created the basic set up for the website where we will host this. I even put my details in as a sample. Fingers crossed we can start data gathering soon.

PERSONAL

• Set up my bullet journal for April. I need to add a page for my hotel night off from parenting next week. Can't wait!
• Last two new appliances for our kitchen arrived. I didn't have to do too much (thank you, honey!) but I did try to help prep our space as much as I could.
• We had some leftover buttermilk so I made two batches of pull apart buttermilk rolls. Froze one batch and left the others for us to have with dinner this week.
• Filed my taxes! (Why is it so scary to do this every year?)
• I am behind on my personal photo management... by several months. I am slowly making inroads on naming files and organizing things.
