The Now: November 20, 2024

It's been ages since I gave myself an "odds and ends" day in my office. This is a day where I tackle all the random piles on my desk, knock out tiny things on my to-do list, and, in the special case of today, finally organize my office after our move. There are still two boxes I need space for, but our Director just gave me the go ahead to order a storage cabinet. It will be nice to no longer be working out of boxes.

Here's what else I've been working on:

1. Webinar Prep: Our last library webinar of the fall semester was last Friday. Now it's time to get ready for the spring. Generally, we host student focused webinars in the fall and faculty focused ones in the spring. This time, we're pivoting. Our spring webinars will be focused on AI. It's a topic in great demand and we want to support the need. On top of the regular logistics, we're finalizing topics and writing summaries. It'll be interesting to see if we get more live attendance at these sessions.
2. Relocation Revisions: The teaching load from the semester is easing up and I'll be WFH for the entirety of next week. I'm taking advantage of this lull to tackle the remaining items on my list from our relocation. That means updating signs and handouts, adding content to our website, and revising some of our documentation. It's a bunch of little things but it needs to get done. I'm doing my best to make these revisions evergreen so that I don't have to redo them again in six months.
3. Holiday Planning: December comes with a lot of planning. Between decorating, hosting our holiday party, and hosting our families for Christmas - not to mention all the cards and gifts - there are a lot of logistics to work out. The Husband just finished designing and ordering our holiday cards. Right now, I'm focusing on gift lists and the advent calendar for our kiddo. Then I'll move on to recipe planning, shopping lists, and prep cooking plans.
