The Now: June 26, 2024

Yesterday, our librarian team got another tour of our renovated space. The major work is down and they've moved on to the final design touches, furniture construction, and tech fitting. It's all coming together and we CAN'T WAIT to get in there. Fingers crossed our end of July move date holds.

Here's what I've been working on:
  1. LibGuide Edits: Each summer, we review our massive collection of LibGuides to make sure all the material is correct, up-to-date, and works. It's not hard, but it's detail oriented. My colleague put together a checklist so we can track our work on each guide. I've got about half of mine left. I can only handle so many at a time before my eyes glaze over.
  2. Job Applicant Review: I reviewed over 100 applications for the position our University wants to fill. Sadly, most applications were very easy to dismiss. We really should have made the cover letter mandatory. It's hard to get a sense of the candidate from a resume. Luckily, there are a few folks I think are worth interviewing.
  3. Jigsaw Puzzle: Two nights this week, I've decided to put my laptop aside and work on a jigsaw puzzle. It's a "tea dragons" one I grabbed off the shelves of our building's free community library. I love the illustration but the pieces fit too loosely. It's kind of a pain to keep having to reconnect them.
