The Now: June 19, 2024

Just now sitting down to write this because the kiddo and I were out all day. Both she and I got Juneteenth off, but the husband had to work. In order to give him some quiet at home, I took the kiddo the zoo, a restaurant, and then the pool. Since she was so good, we stopped for ice cream on the way home. The husband just put her to bed and I have feeling she will be asleep in a matter of minutes.

Here's what I've been working on:

1. Survey Outreach Report: I finally got around to drafting a brief report about the marketing implications from last year's library survey. Now that we are beginning to move into our remodeled space, some of what we learned is actionable. Mostly, I just need to push our message more. A lot of the time people wanted things we already had. Or, the simply did not know that we did/had certain things. Maybe I will try being a town crier in the student center...
2. Job Applicant Review: I am serving on another hiring committee. This one is outside of my department. I like being able to stretch my skills a bit. That said, the number of applicants for this position is HUGE and many (most?) are in no way qualified. It makes it easier to breeze through the stack of resumes but I also wish I could reach out and work with these applicants. Most of time, people just need to write a cover letter or tailor their resumes more. 
3. Birthday Prep: Both the kiddo and I have summer birthdays. The husband and I are working on plans for both events. I also booked myself a solo staycation at a local hotel to celebrate my actual day.

Update! The kiddo feel asleep before I could even finish this post.
