The Now: January 8, 2025

Today is my first day physically back in the office since December 18. Aside from the treacherous walk on unshoveled sidewalks to get here, it feels good. I miss the vibe of being in the library. WFH is great, but I like to be able to walk around and see people using our space.

Here's what I'm working on:
  1. Article on Personal Digital Archiving: My article for Computers in Libraries magazine is due to the editor on Friday. After my rough (very rough) first draft, I gave it a quick edit to knock things down to the requested word count. I decided to send it to the editor early to see if I should fix anything in particular.  Good news for me, it only needs a few light edits. Next, I need to round up some pictures to include before submitting the final package.
  2. Library Roadmap: At the request of our Chief Academic Office, I rallied the library team to gather information to put together a requested strategic "roadmap." The details of the request have changed a few times, so there's been some narrative and format tweaking. It's annoying to have to do things last minute but, luckily, the library has a great team and a pool of marketing material we can pull from to make life a little easier.
  3. Bullet Journal: I should have started this in 2024, but I am chipping away the pages for my 2025 journal. Most things are done. The main page I have left is my word of the year. I also need to close out my 2024 journal before I scan it and store it away.
