Sometimes the most random things end up as research. Here's what I looked up this week.

I discovered this week that I never turned off my Google activity tracking. That's awesome for remembering what to put in this post but really bad for data privacy overall. Time to consider my options. If you want to learn more about your Google activity tracking, head over to your personal page.
My goal for this series of posts is to share all of the interesting things we research in everyday life. The caveat is that I get to decided what's on the list. I do not share what I research on behalf of our students and faculty, I do not share searches that overlap with the privacy others in my life, I also do not share things that I do not wish to share. Again, I get to make that decision. Google, on the other hand, just tracks everything. They then use that for marketing. If you want to see what Google tracks and how to stop it, visit this article on c|net.
I think you can tell by my searches that I am itching to make plans for the future. I got to pre-register for the vaccine this week and I am eagerly anticipating my eventual arm jab.
Fairly certain most of my search power went towards tracking down where my kid hide her hair ties every day. Better that than her milk cup.
Here's what I looked up this week.
Here's what I found myself looking up this week.
My interests were piqued by random things this week. Here's what I've been looking up. Pied-a-terre - An announcement went out on a local list-serv I'm on stating that someone had a pied-a-terre to rent. As much as I love learning French, I never knew specifically what a pied-a-terre was. I headed to Google to find out what that was. Answer - fancy word for an apartment you don't live in full-time.
Jackie Kennedy Queen Elizabeth - We started watching The Crown again and I was intrigued if the tiff between the First Lady and Queen was real. Profumo Scandal - Related to the last episode of season 2 of The Crown. I wanted to know more about the actual scandal and it's impact on British politics. Perseverance Rover Landing - I was curious about the exact date the rover would touch down on Mars. Here are the things I found myself Googling this week.
This is a new kind of post I want to try out. I am constantly Googling, Alexa-ing, and generally researching random things every day. That's partly because of my career path but also because I just need to know. In this series, I want to share those things I look up in a given week.
